Looking For...You?

I am in the process of starting a new blog (not this one) which will focus on the food and water crisis which is just starting to become known.

Left leaning bloggers interested in contributing, this is the vision:

- A Whole World Out There - news and views from around the world

- Cool Green Products: Links and comments on new products people could and should use

- Earth Wind and...: Science stories people can relate to

- Go Green: Simple changes people can make to change their lives and positively impact the earth

- News and Views: Left leaning stories that don't make the mainstream (not regurgitations of what is in the mainstream or on other blogs, but thoughtful commentary surrounding what is already out there)

- What If...?: A series on how to handle basic crisis situation (e.g., what if the electricity goes off for X number of hours...how do you survive)

Should you be interested in contributing, email me!

A Fightening View from the Right

Let's further indoctrinate children. Good plan. Read it and weep (click the UGH link below).

UGH!

My fav quote: "If global warming presents problems down the road, private companies and entrepreneurs will come up with fixes. Government intervention will only stifle this spirit of innovation."

Impeachment. Put it back on the table!

This is from 2004. Oh, how little has changed...just more death and destruction. And for what? OIL! Bush and Chaney's friends don't have enough money yet.

Proud Democrat

If being a democrat means I have values, ethics, and abhor lying, I am a proud one! These days, being a member of the GOP means that lying is a means to an end, only those who make $200k a year or more through the use of illegal aliens used in sweat shops world wide while ruining every local environment and backing a war which we were lied into, only those people have value to our country. Lest not forget torture, dishonesty, removal of American's rights, and gifts to corporate greed (can you say HALIBURTON [Hmmm, moving corporate HQ to Dubai, operations to Mexico and cheaper wages, after gouging the American people for hundreds of billions of taxpayer money. Yeah, you go GOP, let's have some more of those no bid contracts.]) Guess what? I don't buy into those values or beliefs.

Apparently, lying about everything BUT getting a blow job is good for the GOP. Those are definitely not the Family Values I buy into.

IMPEACH BUSH AND CHANEY!!

Then try them for war crimes! How many more Americans have to die? How many hundreds of thousands innocent Iraqis have to die?

Long time no type!

Well, it's months since I was last here. Oh the things that life throws at us. When last we met, I was in Thailand (with the $60 bucks worth of local currency - but for the generosity of a total stranger would have been a very difficult week [when my ATM said, MUAHAAAAAAA, Sorry, no cashola for you!]) and forecast for a long, long trip. Luckily, my ATM decided to work on its own (yes, someone has to explain that one to me) and the business trip went off without a hitch (other than dealing with a death in my family eight thousand miles away, my back going out due to stress, and other sundried and various lovelies) and back on US soil I found myself attmepting to get things done in the hours I was actually home.

Yes, it was Reno, NV, LA, Thailand, CT, England, GA, jeez you name it and I felt like I was there.

Thanks to my wonderful cousin who flew in from Germany to help me take care of the estate of my late grandmother (God bless you, David! What would I have done without you??)

My travels of late are still up there but not quite as often, thank goodness! I got to play out at Foxwoods again (taking 2nd place, thank you very much...and getting sucked out on yet again in other tourneys) and eating at Custy's, the all you can eat lobster and seafood place just a couple miles east of Foxwoods - always high on my list.

Of late, I am dealing with my ever flooding basement, my tiny little canine addition schooching out under the fence doing her damnest to become tire fodder and sending me into total shrewness as I spy every car that goes by while I attempt to find her (Steve, sorry about your ears on that last one...I was picturing the cartoon horn coming out of your other ear as I screamed at that lonely Nissan driving right up on her). SCHWEET!

I took down a ladies tourney the other night...boy did that one seem to be an all nightet! I played good poker and got a couple of really good players to buy into my traps which gave me the chip lead at the final table. I maintaned the chip lead for but a few JOANNE, YOU'RE A DONK hands and managed to take it all. Nice win in one of my first big tourneys in some time. I dug it!

With all the weirdness that happens here and there in my life, I can honestly say that my life has taken an interesting and positive turn of late. It never ceases to amaze me that there truly is good in the world. Every time I give up on humanity something happens to remind me that life really is pretty good.

I've missed all my poker buds out there. Let it be known...SHE'S BACK! :-)

XOX to all!

Hello from Thailand!

I only have one question...ok, two:

Why does it cost 10 baht per minute to log into the internet? How on earth am I supposed to get my poker fix??? This sucks!

How come I can meet the cutest, sweetest, smartest guy in THAILAND but not at home??? I swear this guy took the 2nd tour 'cause he knew I was taking it. (And that sooooooooooooooooooooo rocked!!!!) SWOOON FAINT THUD! Doctor Delish...you are dreamy, big time! (How about a guy who gives you cashola when you tell him that your ATM card won't work in a foreign land and you have NO, yes I said ZERO, local currency?? Jeez, who does that?? A totally decent person out there? HELLO! I think I'm in love! Why do you live in OZ? Alas, alas, alas!...and god bless you for saving my ass! Hmmm...why do I find myself wanting to visit the land down under - and soon, too? {wicked evil grin})

Thailand is an interesting place. I will write more when I have some time (not to mention money)...what a strange, strange trip it's been!

I miss my poker buds and my poker nights! Can you say W I T H D R A W A L??? Oh yeah, I sure can!

Up up and away

Well, the biz trip from hell has started. My 14 day trek was supposed to start by flying into Reno then heading out to Squaw Valley (site of the 60's Olympics) for a conference. Get to O'Hare and board the plane only to be told that the anti lock brakes failed. Sit on runway for an hour. Cancel flight. Schweet!

After an hour on the phone with the rescheduling folks, the three of us were bound for San Francisco (via St. Louis...can you say inching your way across this great land? Yeah, thought you could. :-D) where we rented a car and drove 3 hours back to Squaw Valley. WOO HOO!! Oh wait...forgot to mention that we boarded the exact same plane we had gotten off of 2 hours prior. Oh, and the anti lock brake issue? Not an issue flying into St. Louis...only Reno (due to elevation and length of runway). Ooooo-k!! I am feeling REALLY safe about now!

Did I mention that while we made it to Cali, our bags did not.

So, I am at this lux resort we go to every year for this conference and they manage to fuck up the key cards 5x. I kept getting locked out of my room. Jesus Christ on crutch. Am I having fun yet??

Fastforward three days...I am leaving for Thailand for work, and guess what? STILL NO BAGS!

Ok, bags arrived at my hotel in Reno exactly 12 hours before my flight(my 24 hour flying journey to Asia begins in Reno to LA to Tokyo to Bangkok). NOW WE'RE COOKIN' WIT GAS! At least I have STUFF!

Did I mention that this silly assed seriously upscale resort in Cali is totally doggie friendly with a really cool little pet shop? I got my Roma some popcorn. Roma lives and breathes for popcorn and yogurt. She's Pavlov's salivating pooch to the Nth degree when either are in front of her eyes or wafting up her nose.

Here's Roma, btw.
Isn't she the cutest??

Anyway, this little upscale pet shop had Filet Mignon flavored popcorn. I just HAD to get that for my little baby! Momma misses you, angel!!!

Gotta love a place that sells $150 collars. Can you say PEOPLE WITH TOO MUCH MONEY AND TOO LITTLE COMMON SENSE?? Well, that's what I think at least...and I live for my kids (er, dogs)!

Missed my weekly poker game and probably will again for a couple weeks. I will try to hit a couple tourneys in Thai time while I am gone, though.

Ciao for now all!
